The day most of us have been waiting for all week is finally here: Friday! I swear there’s a tangible change in everyone’s demeanor when this magical day rolls around: stress melts away to reveal a glimmer of hope and a promise of all of the indulgences and vices that weekends bring with them. Shoulders relax. Tension subsides.
For me, weekends often mean a cozy Friday night at home on the couch with my husband, my pajamas, and takeout:
It means endless hours of time to do all of the things that I dream to do: writing, honing my photography skills, attending a Pure Barre class, perfecting a glass of iced coffee on Saturday mornings (what can I say, priorities).
Wherever this weekend takes you, I hope you take some time to do the things you love and enjoy a much-needed break from the grind. In the meantime, I’d like to leave you with a new addition to my blog rotation: Friday Favorites!
Each Friday, I’ll share 5 things I’m loving, from a new brand of tea to a fitness class I tried to funky new food items at Trader Joe’s or recipes I’ve given a go. These posts have long been my absolute favorite to read on other blogs (maybe I’m just nosy? I like to think I just love giving new things a go!), and I hope you feel the same!
Call me weird for including a pot rack first on my list of current favorites, but I’d be lying if I left this one off! Let’s just say that my current apartment leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to kitchen cabinet space and storage. One weekend, armed with an Amazon giftcard, I started browsing online for a solution and stumbled upon this pot rack. I decided to give it a go and had it mounted on my kitchen wall a few days later.
Guys, it is incredible how much of a difference such a small little rack can make! My kitchen cabinets can breathe now and I almost don’t know what to do with all of the newfound space. I absolutely love how practical the top space is for storing my large, 10-quart Le Creuset stockpot and glass pot lids, and the bronze color is neutral and perfect for my space. Never going back!
I recently stumbled upon a 4-pack of these mango juices at my local Trader’s Joes (I added a link above to Walmart, but they’re out of stock so I’d recommend checking in store). I’m impressed that they’re made with 100% mango juice and no added sugar – and they taste incredible! So far I’ve enjoyed adding a splash to mimosas for Mother’s Day brunch and to mixed drinks made with lime juice and amaretto liquor. If you’re a big mango fan like me, definitely give these a go.
I’m going a little outside my usual box with this one, but in addition to cooking I really love playing around with makeup and fashion as much as the next gal (let me know if you want to hear more from me in this area!). Over the past year, I’ve fallen in love with Bobbi Brown products and can sing praises about their quality and efficacy. The latest addition to my beauty arsenal is the Bobbi Brown Retouching Face Pencil in Light. It’s creamy and thick without being too thick, applies smoothly, and stays put to cover dark spots, acne, and other imperfections.
Iced coffee drinks are my vice, so naturally I had to give Starbucks’ new Toasted Coconut Cold Brew a try. I really liked it, but I also enjoy creating my own drinks, so I decided to try the toasted coconut syrup in my regular iced coffee. I really loved it and think my next drink will be a grande iced coffee with half toasted coconut syrup (2 pumps) and half caramel syrup (2 pumps). I’m thinking this will taste like samoas and I can.not.wait!
Funny story: The first time I tried an RXBAR, I thought I hated them. I think it was the Maple Sea Salt flavor (sorry to anyone who loves those). Way too chewy and weakly flavored, in my opinion. Then I decided to try again with the Chocolate Sea Salt flavor and have been adding a few of these to my grocery cart ever since. RXBARs are great because they’re made with only natural ingredients and no added sugar (they’re gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy-free as well)! This one is made with dates, egg whites, cashews, almonds, cacao, cocoa, natural chocolate flavor, and sea salt and offers up 12 grams of protein. They’re the perfect snack to bring with me to work or to eat in the car on the way to my workout class.
