In typical Friday fashion, today I’m sharing my very favorite items from around the web in food, healthy living, restaurants, fashion, and more!
This week went by in a flash for me – anyone else? Another weekend is staring us in the face, and my agenda includes a fun fall-themed bridesmaid brunch on Saturday afternoon and apple picking back in Connecticut on Sunday. The weekends earlier this month were absolutely crazy with weddings, so I’m jumping at the chance to go now before the season is over. Apple picking with my husband (well, boyfriend back then) has been an annual tradition for years…maybe even 9 years now?!
We frequented Silverman’s Farm in our college and immediate post-college years, but last year we switched to Beardsley’s Cider Mill. Give me all the cider donuts, please! I also heard a rumor Beardsley’s brews hard apple cider. Fingers crossed that’s true because I see some of that in my future if so.
Before I get lost in a cloud of fall euphoria, though, I thought I’d share a few things I’m loving lately. After all, it’s the little things (definitely not necessarily “things” per se, by the way!) that make our days and weeks and years feel that much more special. Feel free to chime in by leaving a comment about a few of your favorites, too!
Pumpkin spice energy balls. I shared the recipe for these easy, 6-ingredient Pumpkin Pie Spice Energy Balls earlier this week and I seriously cannot. stop. eating. them. I know they’re my own recipe and all, but seriously: they are SO GOOD. They taste sort of like a cross between buttery pecan pie and spicy pumpkin pie, and the pumpkin seeds add the perfect bit of crunch. Go make these right now!
Fall themed RXBars. Please forgive me for including not one but TWO pumpkin-themed food favorites this week, but my pumpkin addiction is apparently in full swing. I was so pumped to find the new Pumpkin Spice RXBars at Trader Joe’s last weekend and grabbed a few for work during the week. The flavor is spot-on and perfect with the slightly chewy texture of these bars.
Maple pecan iced latte. Last week I tried Dunkin Donuts’ new maple pecan latte only to hear a few days later that Starbucks had launched its own version of this drink *cue angels singing*. Obviously, I had to try it (see picture above for evidence) and obviously, it was good because it has quickly made its way into my favorites! I think I like both versions just as much.
RECIPES I BOOKMARKED
Crockpot Ropa Vieja with Cuban Style Rice via PaleOMG. Yum! Need to dust off my crockpot soon.
3 Ingredient Pumpkin Brownies via Delish. Wait, these actually don’t contain a drop of added sugar but look so rich and chocolately. Must make ASAP.
Pork Cacciatore via Blue Apron. I’ve yet to try Blue Apron (any thoughts?) but I do check out the free recipes on their website from time to time. This looks like a good dinner option as we hang onto a bit of summer weather!
Nugget’s antics. This is Nugget, our 5-month-old tabby cat. Isn’t his new hangout spot the best? He looks so mischievous (which he is). 🙂
Stretchy pants for fall. I’ve heard raves reviews of these pants with a comfortable elastic waistband from family members and fashion bloggers alike, and I finally bit the bullet when I saw these Wit & Wisdom skinny pants from Nordstrom drop down to just $34.00. I snapped up the olive green (celedon) and cameo colors! Will report back.
Mental health + work. Thought this interesting read did a great job highlighting what it’s like to live with a mental health disorder while working a 9-to-5. A good reminder to be kind to everyone you meet and save judgment.
RECENTLY ON THE PETITE CHEF
No matter where you go or what you do, have a wonderful weekend and see you back here next week!
