In my typical Friday fashion, I’m sharing my very favorite items from around the web in food, healthy living, restaurants, fashion, and more!
Whew… what a week it has been! Some work-related opportunities came up (sorry to be vague, but I need to for privacy reasons) and I had some big decisions to make. Let me just say that I am not very good with handling the unknown, so a few tears may have been shed due to all of the stress. The good news is that all ended on a very, very positive note and I’m going into the weekend ready to release the deep breath I’ve been holding onto for quite some time and r-e-l-a-x!
Since it’s Friday and all, I thought it would be fun to share another edition of Friday Favorites here on Petite Chef. Although this blog focuses mostly on my healthy (and sometimes not so healthy) eats, I hope to share more and more tidbits of my lifestyle as well. Let me know if you like reading these types of posts in the comments, and hope you have a fabulous weekend full of things you love.
DECOR & FASHION
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’m clearly no fashion blogger, but I can’t deny that the Nordstrom sale gets me every single year. A number of new fall arrivals are included at steep discounts, and I’m loving this year’s selection. I had a really hard time narrowing down my choices, but in the end I pulled the trigger on just a few purchases, including this adorable Lush Ruffle Bell Sleeve Blouse in the black/olive paisley floral (can’t beat the price!), these Rebecca Minkoff Annette Ankle Boots in the berry smoothie suede (love the studs and pointed toe), and this Gibson Tie Front Cozy Fleece Pullover in the blush (so cozy and cute for fall with booties).
Wood and iron mirror. Since moving into our new townhouse, I’ve been on the hunt for a piece to hang on the wall in a awkward space between the couch and an iron shelving unit. Should I just hang another painting? Leave it open? As soon as I saw this rustic mirror at Kirkland’s (exact mirror not available online, but check in stores if you’re interested!), I knew it would be perfect. What do you think?
Summer peaches. Fresh fruit is a no-brainer during the height of summer, and peaches have been my go-to this week. I grabbed a 4-pack from Trader Joe’s of a special variety shaped sort of like a disk, and they were so juicy! I’ve been enjoying them in salads (a mix of romaine + spinach) with grilled chicken, tomatoes, edamame, and a bit of this caramelized onion cheese, also from Trader Joe’s.
Cinnamon dolce java. I’ve always been a big fan of the cinnamon dolce coffee at Starbucks, so naturally I was stoked when I found this ground version at Target. Tip: it is fabulous over ice with hazelnut coffee creamer.
Fun twist on blueberry pie. This New York Times recipe for Maple Blueberry Pie looks absolutely scrumptious. I’m keeping my eyes peeled for an excuse to make this one!
Blogger ethics. A travel blogger with a large following on Instagram is in hot water after photoshopping herself in front of places she hasn’t been. Is it ever okay to do this? Interesting read and made me think about the ethics that bloggers and readers alike need to consider.
Wellness is a scam. I’m obviously all for the power of healthy eating, but how far is too far when it comes to wellness? Check out this candid article for a take on the business of health and decide for yourself whether it’s a scam.
