Happy Fri-yay! This week actually flew by pretty quickly for me. Anyone else?
Maybe it’s because the weather has been absolutely idyllic this week in southern Connecticut (with the exception of a hurricane-like thunderstorm and flash floods one afternoon, but let’s forget about that, shall we?). Think 80 degrees, blue skies with not a single cloud in sight, no humidity, and a slightly cool breeze. My hibiscus plant (pictured above) is loving it! I was also able to sit outside without completely melting or else contracting a sunburn within 2.5 seconds of being outside, so that was rather nice.
This weekend my plans include a belated Father’s Day dinner tonight, driving my parents to JFK airport on Saturday morning to catch their flight to Florida, and a potluck dinner at a friend’s house on Saturday night! Not too shabby. Wherever you are and whatever you do, I hope you enjoy a mix of fun and relaxation, too. Now in my usual Friday style, here are a few things I’ve been loving this week.
DECOR & FASHION
Adorable and affordable home goods. A new Kirklands store recently opened up near my work, and I went to scope it out on my lunch break the other day. I’m in love! I already have a running wish list including this metallic dots metal wall art, this gorgeous lavender berry wreath, and this pancake-scented candle.
Cold shoulder lace dress. I know fashion is not my forte on Petite Chef, but I thought it would be fun to sprinkle in here or there. I recently purchased this lace cold shoulder dress and can’t wait to wear it to a wedding later this summer. It’s such a pretty and delicate shade of light blue!
Fresh berries. When fresh berries are available and in season, I go crazy for them. I’ve been enjoying a mix of blueberries, cherries, and my absolute favorite: cotton candy grapes. If you’re curious: yes, they actually do taste quite a bit sweeter than regular grapes and – dare I say it – even a little bit like cotton candy.
A convenient matcha latte to-go. I grabbed a Super Rebbl Herbs Matcha Latte while I out and about at Fairway one day, and I’ve already been back twice for more! It’s slightly sweet and not too earthy with some sweetness from the honey. I like that it’s made with coconut milk, too.
Mini pizzas to keep on hand. I’m loving these Bambino mini pizzas from Trader Joe’s. They come in a pack of 4 and need to bake in the oven for only 10 minutes. Perfect easy dinner for nights when pizza is just necessary.
Addicting read. I started reading The Handmaid’s Tale (affiliate link) and can’t stop reading. Although it’s a bit out of the ordinary and the concept is slightly disturbing (fair warning), I can’t put it down! Has anyone watched the show on Hulu?
Strawberry lemonade smoothies. These have really hit the spot lately. They’re tart and perfectly sweet. If you haven’t checked out my recipe yet, what are you waiting for?
