In typical Friday fashion, today I’m sharing my very favorite items from around the web in food, healthy living, restaurants, fashion, and more! This post may contain affiliate links.
Happy, happy Friday! How has your week been? Slow? Fast? Somewhere in between? Mine went by in the blink of an eye, and this weekend I’m looking forward to celebrating my mom’s birthday with a trip to the outlets and a German-themed dinner (we are part Austrian, and German food is very similar!).
This has been our tradition for the past few years and I don’t hate it! The restaurant we go to is located in New York State and is quirky and authentic in all the right ways: various cuckoo clocks adorn the walls, white fur lines the booth seats, and giant (and I mean giant) mugs of beer the size of my head (or arguably larger) are commonplace.
I think most people either love or hate German cuisine: many of the classics are traditionally cooked with vinegar (sauerbraten) or else fermented (red cabbage), and I can appreciate the fact that it’s not for everyone. It is, however, for me! I can’t wait to get my hands on some spaetzle (a type of cooked homemade dumplings that resemble pasta a bit in terms of taste).
Before I dive into the heart of Oktoberfest, though, I’m sharing a few favorites I’ve been enjoying lately. I always like recapping my week and appreciating a few of the little things that made it that much better. But a one-sided conversation is no fun. Leave me a comment and tell me what you’re loving this week, too!
Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Rooibos Tea. I grabbed a tin of this tea on a whim during my weekly shopping run last Saturday. It’s now at home in my desk drawer at work and I’ve been enjoying a warm cup around 3:00 each day with a splash of unsweetened almond milk. The package describes it as “a carefully selected blend of rooibos combined with natural pumpkin flavor, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves” and it is like fall in a cup. Winner! Go find this now and buy it.
Soft chocolate chip cookies via Pinch of Yum. Warning: this one is not healthy by any means, but it is seriously delicious! (Hey, we all need a little sugar every once in a while.) I was craving something sweet on a recent Friday night and realized I had fun sized Hershey’s bars on hand thanks to Halloween candy, meaning I could make chocolate chip (well, chunk) cookies. A quick Google search yielded this recipe and I decided to give it a whirl. You guys, they were the softest and most delicious cookies I’ve possibly ever baked. They were just as soft as promised which was super impressive. Highly recommended.
